We spent Tuesday morning fine tuning our
shrub pruning techniques with Peter Deahl of Fine Pruning.
Mr. Deahl met with our foremen and management staff at a property we serve near Leesburg and went over the best methods for pruning several species of shrubs including hydrangea, crape myrtle, vitex and several others. Peter urged us to avoid shearing most plants if at all possible and encouraged us to “open” the plants up, making cuts that allow more light to reach the interior of the shrub.
We took some video footage and are working on putting together a training video based on today’s lessons. We’ll have more pictures, tips and hopefully a video clip ready later in the week so check back soon!
